Anna's Assortments

Information about our product.

My product name is “Anna’s Assortments”. I am putting wrapped sweets into decorative jars. I am printing labels with the weight and allergies and putting them on the jars. I am decorating the jar with a nice ribbon. I am using old jars and recycling them.

 Where the idea came from?

I came up with this idea myself as I love sweets and chocolates. I thought it would be easy for me to do. It would also help me with my counting and money skills.

Who is involved in the project?

I am the only student involved in the project. I like to work on my own. My two SNAs Ms. Gearty and Ms. Keenan will help me. My business teacher Mr. Cryan will give me guidelines to follow.

What the costs were

The biggest cost for my project was buying the sweets. I was lucky to get some of them on special offer in Supervalu. My SNA had nice pink ribbon at home, so I did not have to buy that. I collected the jars from teachers, my family, and my friends so I did not have to pay for them. I asked Joan, the secretary for labels and she gave them to me for free. I had to spray paint some of the lids. I asked Mr. Murray, the art teacher if he had any paint I could use. He said that there was paint left over from Junk Kouture and that I could have it. Ms. Geoghegan gave me some acetone from the science laboratory to remove the old labels from the jars. I also had to buy labels to put the prices on the jars of sweets. I bought a roll of labels from Frank in Eurospar which cost €5.  My jars will cost €1 to buy.

Who do we hope to sell to?

I hope to sell my product to everyone because most people like sweets and chocolates. I did a survey to see if people would give my sweets as presents. A lot of people said they would. I think some people will buy them as Christmas presents. Parents will also buy them to put in Christmas stockings. I hope to sell my product to other students in the school at lunchtime. I hope to go down to St. Mary’s primary school one day and ask the younger children if they will buy some of my sweets.

When will the product be ready?

I am hoping to have my product ready to sell by 15th November. Then I can set up a table at lunchtime and take orders from students and teachers.

Where will it be available for sale?

My product will be available for sale at break and lunchtime in the front hall at school from 15th November. I will also go around to classes and take orders from students. I hope to set up a website to sell my sweets online.
