Information about my product

My product is handmade teddies using Chenille wool sourced from a local craft shop. Its eyes include a safety locking feature which ensures that they pose no choking risk to young children. The products are made by crocheting which is a handcraft in which wool is interloped using a hooked needle.

Where the idea came from?

During the covid lockdown of January 2021 I taught myself how to crochet. I developed my skills and began creating little teddies and eventually moved on to bigger projects. I have sold some teddies in the past to some friends as gifts for their young children. I have also used crochet to make a baby blanket for my Junior Certificate Home Economics classroom-based assessment where I achieved a distinction mark.

Who is involved in the project?

This project is a sole trader business by Caoimhe Nolan.

What are the costs?

A small teddy will sell for €10 and a medium sized teddy for €40.

Who do I hope to sell to?

I hope to sell to parents of young children and those who not only like teddies but appreciate handmade items. I will also be targeting older people at the Christmas markets looking to buy teddies for their loved ones. I am also looking to sell to the teachers in the school who have young children and I hope that the teddies will appeal to the first years in school.

When will the product be ready?

I have many smaller teddies ready for sale, but I am still in the process of making medium sized teddies. This will be completed by the end of the week.

When will it be available for sale?

I hope to start selling next Tuesday 28^th November during lunchtime from 13:15 to 13:55 and every Tuesday leading up to the Christmas holidays.

Where will it be available for sale?

They will be available for sale every Tuesday outside the main hall during lunchtime in the school. I also hope to make some order on the BuyTY enterprise website. 

How can customers pay?

Customers can pay with cash.
