Cuisine Crepes

Information about our product

Our products are crepes for the students and teachers of Scoil Mhuire Strokestown, County Roscommon. The product will be on sale twice a week during lunch time, and we provide a variety of toppings to choose from. The product is a new option for students, as many students do not bring lunch to school as they buy their food in school.

Where did the idea come from?

Three of the members of the group are Home Economics students and we wanted to use their culinary skills to help with our enterprise. We sent out a survey showing our idea to the students at the school, and we received very positive responses.

Who is involved in the project?

Kate Martin, Abbie Feeley, Emily Fallon and Aoife Burke are the four TY students making the crepes. However, our parents are assisting us at home.

What the costs were.

We bought a crepe maker which cost €47, which was a once off expense. The ingredients, toppings and packaging are variable expenses depending on demand. We will charge €2 for a crepe with lemon and sugar and €2.50 with other toppings.

Who do we hope to sell to?

We hope to sell our product to secondary school students and teachers. We are targeting first and second year students as they are unable to leave the school during lunchtime and we think that they will purchase our crepes as it is something different from the usual lunch options offered within the school.

When will the product be ready?

We make some of our crepes the night before we hope to sell them, and it takes about two hours to make the batter and cook them. We then reheat them before selling on the day. We also make fresh crepes which take about 5-10 minutes to cook.

Where will it be available for sale?

It will be available for sale outside the Technical Graphics room in our school on Mondays and Thursdays at lunch time from 13:15 to 13:55.

How can customers pay?

The customers can pay us in cash.
