Festive Christmas Logs
Our project are handcrafted personalised wooden boxes that are custom made for our customers. We offer a wide range of designs from football team logos, names, colorful designs or any words in general.
Where did the idea for your project come from?
Our idea came from us brainstorming as a group. We wrote down our interests and it was identified that some of us have skills within the woodwork classroom.
We knew then that we wanted to produce something that involved creating something with wooden materials
After brainstorming we sent a survey out to gather information to identify what potential customers would like. The results showed that people would like boxes they could put earrings, keys, coins or clips into without losing them, as small bits are very easy to lose and it is nice to have an aesthetically pleasing box for keeping all of your bits and bobs safe.
Who is involved in your project?
There are five people involved in the Business. Eilish, Rachel, Shauna, Anna, and Emma. We all had roles within the business. Eilish is the manager of the group keeps track of the groups finances, She also paints designs on the boxes. Rachel sands, varnishes and packages the boxes. Anna is in charge of taking orders and ensures all orders are fulfilled. Anna also lasers the names onto the boxes. Shauna sands the boxes before the burning takes place and Emma prints out stencils for the designs.
What were your initial costs?
To start our business we all invested 20 into the company. This allowed us to buy the materials we needed to get the business up and running. We initially bought four plain boxes from Amazon which cost us €12.82. This worked out as €3.20 per box. We also spent 15 euro to purchase varnish for the boxes. As cross curricular is embedded in our school, we were fortunate enough to be allowed to use resources from other departments e.g. we used paint materials from the art room and a laser machine from the engineering room. In return we gifted a Bizzy Box to the department teachers.
Who do you hope to sell to?
We hope to sell our product to a wide target market. Our boxes can be customised for any age. We have made sales to adults who wanted a Bizzy Box for their 'bits and pieces', we have sold boxes to teachers in our school who have used them to hold their stationary for their desks and we also create appealing designs for a younger audience, for example we have designed various football club designs for the sporty child, and floral or colorful design to appeal to children who like colour and we hope that there is something for everyone. We also hope to develop occasional keepsakes for brides and grooms and new babies.
When will the project will be ready?
Our project will be ready within a week of you ordering. Time will vary depending on the design on your box and the influx of orders.
When will your product be available for sale?
Our product launched in October of 2023 and since then we have been creating many Bizzy Boxes orders. Our product is readily available for sale once your order is placed, we can start on your order and have it finished within a week of ordering. Please note, time may vary depending on the detail you would like on your Bizzy Box.
