Poppin' Popcorn is the perfect sweet treat. They are individually made confectionary bags with treats such as popcorn, jellies, marshmallows and chocolates so there is something for everybody.

OUR PRODUCT
Our product are individually packed sweet bags with a wide variety of sweets such as popcorn, jellies, marshmallows ,Maltesers, Quality streets and Roses. With the mix of sweets available there is something for everybody.
Where the idea came from?
We knew we wanted to do something to do with food as we saw from previous years that food businesses usually do well. While brainstorming ideas for our enterprise and chose to sell sweet bags as we identified that our school lunch shop sell a lot of sweets and it is what the students at our school like to have during lunch time. One product e.g. a chocolate bar or a bag of crips in our school shops would cost a student €1.20 per item, so we wanted students to be able to buy a mix of everything for the price of €2
Who is involved in the project?
We are Katie and Caoimhe and we are transition year students.
What the costs were?
Our products cost €2. We make our sweet bags more affordable in order to compete with our competitors, for example the school shop.
Who they hope to sell to?
Our main target market are 1st and 2nd year students. These students are not allowed to go down to the town for lunch, therefore they would purchase goods from the school grounds.
When the project will be ready?
Our product was available for sale in September of 2023.

In School every Tuesday and Thursday
How customers can pay?
We only accept cash.
How did you promotion your product?
We made an Instagram account @poppinpopcorn and gained a followning, which were mostly our friends at first but then younger students start to follow after we made posters and stuck them up around the school.
We communicated with our customers by sending out a google form to all students for them to fill out. We discovered what sweets students like and how much they are willing to pay. We promoted the dates, times and price of our product and sold it outside the hall at lunchtime where there's large numbers of people would usually gather.
What did we Learn?
We learned a lot whilst doing TY enterprise. We learned that a lot of work goes in before even deciding on a product. We also learned that we needed to find cheap sweets in order to make a bigger profit. Initially we planned to sell different sweets, however when we looked at our expenditure it was going to make it difficult to make a profit while selling our bags at €2. We decided to choose cheaper sweets and keep the price at €2. We also also learned that communication between us was very important.
Personal Development
We have developed so much individually. We have built in confidence and we have learned so much about how to run a business. We will take a lot of our learnings with us throughout the transition year program.
