Information about our product

My product is a science fiction book written by Patrick McEnroe. It took me four months to write and is 385 pages long.

Where the idea came from?

My idea for this book originally came from when I read the book Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. This is one of my favourite books and so I looked for more like it. I didn’t find many, so I decided to write one myself. I took inspiration from the Top Gun movie, but I created my own characters and my own setting.

Who is involved in the project?

Patrick McEnroe wrote the book. When it came to the promotion Sean Johnston and Luke Wilders helped with creating, printing and putting up posters to advertise my product. I also had assistance from Fionn McManus to help create the cover. He’s not from our school and is not in our enterprise group but he was a great help.

What the costs were?

Obviously, it took a lot of time to make, but apart from that I had to look into printing the book. For this I did research on many different companies that print books. I narrowed it down to three. Amazon KDP, Ingramspark and Lulu. Each company had pros and cons. In the end I chose Lulu. My reason behind this was because Lulu has the highest quality and ability to ship many copies at once. Its downside is it is the most expensive of the three. I will sell each book for €15.

Who do we hope to sell to?

I hope to sell to people who enjoy reading. This is my first full book I’ve written, and I know it’s not perfect, but I would be happy if a few people were to try it and enjoy it.

When will the product be ready?

It took a lot of extra time to properly size and format the book but once I sorted this out, I immediately began ordering copies of it. I ordered four copies first to make sure everything was printed properly. Once these copies arrive the product will be ready to sell.

When will it be available for sale?

After I get the first four copies, I will try take orders off students as soon as possible. I’m hoping to go at lunch time and take orders off the students and order them as soon as possible as delivery time could be from 10 to 13 days.

Where will it be available for sale?

I will be taking orders here at school for the book. Depending on its success I’m hoping to go beyond and properly self-publish the book.

How can customers pay?

I will be taking cash for the orders. It will be €15 for a normal paperback copy.
