Wooden Christmas Crafts
About Our Project

About the project:
Our project is a number of upcycled christmas decorations made from old pallets from our farmyards. With sustainability at the forefront of our minds our idea is to make a variety of Christmas decorations at affordable prices.
Where did the idea come from:
We saw many old pallets lying around the farms with no use and didn't want them to go to waste. This was after many failed business ideas, and coming into the festive season of Christmas,we thought we couldn't let this opportunity be missed.
Who is involved in this project:
Our group has 5 members. Stephen Tighe, Michael Lavin, Joshua Kenny, Alan Lyons and Cathal Connellan. We are all in the same class and decided to work with each other.
What were our costs:
Our costs were minimal as we were upcycling unused materials. Luckily our main costs are accessories to finish off our products. Our main expenditure is fairy lights and paint. We used our own tools to assemble the products.
Who they hope to sell to:
We hope to sell our product to families as indoor or outdoor Christmas decorations. We are interested in setting up at the Christmas markets in our local town, and during school hours to pupils and teachers. This year, there is an online Transition Year enterprise website for us to sell and advertise our products to a larger range of customers. We also will link the website on our own social media profiles.
When will it be ready:
We aim to have our first products made by the last week of November, so they are available heading into the beginning of Christmas time. Many people put money aside to buy Christmas decorations on an annual basis so we hope that our customers will see our product as a worthwhile investment for Christmas.
How customers can pay:
Customers can pay in cash, we will also be set up through a bank account made by the school and hopefully customers can pay by card.
